Chananya Kramer, a talmid of Yeshivas Ner Yisroel, is the president of Kolrom Multimedia, a full-service video production company headquartered in Baltimore.
The journey of the podcast began when members of the Hashkama minyan at his shul, Kehilas B’nei Torah, asked him to give a weekly Daf Yomi shiur on Shabbos after davening. With the encouragement of his wife, Faige, he started teaching.
Initially, when the idea of a daily Daf Yomi shiur was proposed, it seemed impossible because of Chananya's demanding travel schedule. That challenge led to the creation of a podcast shiur he could record while on the road. At first, he used the podcast platform only on weekdays or on days when he was unable to give the shiur live. Since Maseches Kiddushin, however, he has committed to recording and posting every Daf.
Chananya is the first to admit that the mechayiv to prepare and record the Daf has had a profound, positive effect on his own learning.
Despite his limited time at home, Faige actively encourages him to stay current with the Daf, even ensuring that he does not fall behind while on vacation.
The deepest mechayiv, however, comes from the dedicated listeners, with a special shout-out to R’ Dovid Bloom, R’ Yehoshua Portnoy, and R’ Avrohom Feldman. The commitment to prepare and not let them down is the greatest bracha a Daf Yomi maggid shiur could hope for.
